Granted, the graphics are slightly downgraded but considering they're ports (from a console to a portable no less) they're really not bad. I'd have to imagine then that the better screen and second analog stick should make them even better on Vita. I personally really enjoy them, and that's on PSP. The PSP games are what I refer to as the 3rd gen games. It is still a much more tactical game than the previous games in the series, but it still feels like an Armored Core game. I really like how this game brought back the AI system from Formula Front, and improved on it. The Defense mechanics were improved in this game, but not by much. The defence mechanics were a neat idea, but the execution wasn't the best.Īrmored Core Verdict Day: The EN recovery speed in this game was greatly increased, which also increased the speed of the game to one that is even closer to a 3rd gen game. Basically, this is Armored Core as a tactical shooter. However, lighter legs are now once again unable to move around while using cannons, but back mounted cannons were sadly removed along with the limited flight abilities of past Armored Core games (Flight was replaced with wall jumping). The slowed down pace did take some getting used to, and I also found that the low EN recovery speed was an issue. However, the faster speed in this game made it feel even more like a Gundam game rather than an Armored Core game.Īrmored Core V: This game felt a lot closer to the 3rd generation games in my opinion than the 4th generation games. The game is also a bit faster than Armored Core 4, which does make for a good spectacle. Leg types such as tanks, and my personal favourite, quads, are gimped because they can't fly very well.Īrmored Core 4 Answer: Better than Armored Core 4, but still has the same leg/cannon and flight issues that the last game had. Flight, which was optional in past AC games is now mandatory if you want to do well in this game. I also wasn't a big fan of allowing all leg types to move around normally while using cannons, because it reduced the usefulness of heavier leg types. In terms of the modern AC games, I don't want to start an argument, I'm just going to state my opinion on them.Īrmored Core 4: A strange beast that had great missions, but the gameplay made it feel more like a gundam game rather than an Armored Core game. If you can handle the smaller amount of buttons, and don't have access to the console versions, then by all means go for it! Last Raven is the best game in the series, but it may not be the best starting point because it was designed for players who have played a few Armored Core games in the past. I don't like them as much as the original PS2 versions of the games simply because I have more buttons to work with on the console, and can therefore remap everything to suit my play style a lot more. They are simply ports from the PS2 games. Don't flood the sub with the same articles and links, especially if they are old. But blatant Gen-Bashing (" sucks and is bad because it's bad!") accomplishes literally nothing but reigniting decade-old flame wars that are better left buried. It's okay to not like a game, or a couple games. But civilized arguments are a thing, so make sure you keep them as such.
